olá,

i saw you were from portugal on the E30Tech forum.

so i have a question.

i'm planning on migrating to portugal by the end of the year, so i have to
leave everything behind here. there is just one thing i love to much and
that is my E30.

so i have two options. sell the car anyway ( what i don't like to do,
because i put too much time, love and dinheiro in it that i can never get
back when i sell it)

or have the car imported into portugal.

Can you tell me how much it would cost to import a '91 320i into portugal.
or if it is possible in any way?

by the way, i'm belgian, so i'm not coming over from the states.

se vier por uns tempos n precisa de mudar a matrikula....

se for pa fikar ke mude...para saberes precos..envia um email para a dgv seria mais facil..ou telefona para la..ou para o acp....e eles dizem-te....acho ke te ajudavam.....

yes, it's me asking. because i really don't want to leave the car behind.

the problem is once you get an adres in portugal, you can only keep using the belgian license plates for 45 days. then it has to be registered as a portuguese car.

like here in belgium you can easily import a german car. you just have to pay 250 euro's to customs and pas the technical service.
but in holland if you want to import a car, the amount you have to pay to get the car in, depends on enginepower and the value of the car.

i'm just wondering how things work in portugal.

surely, some of you must have an imported car.


if it is to difficult, i can bring the car anyway and have all the parts put onto a stock 320i or 325i. found a club now where someone might be able to help me with that.

It would be very heartbreaking (at least for me) to leave my E30 behind even to get another one just the same.

I think here in portugal is all about the engine capacity (for example 2000cc), but i'm not sure since I didn't import a car yet. The people wich already have will only look at this post by monday normally so it's just one more day....

About our help, we have members all over the country and sure some will be right next to where you are going, and they, as me, will be very happy to help such beautiful bimmer...

You will have to pay an amount that is calculated with your motor c.c.... and the car year...

Plus, the portuguese documents...

I think that is more or less 2000€

But I think the better way to do that once in Portugal, his to contract a person to do that, or a company...

oh, belgium isn't that great either. taxes, taxes, i think it is a bit the same everywhere...

Mudança de veículos
O certificado de matrícula emitido para o seu veículo num Estado Membro permite-lhe circular em qualquer país da União Europeia. Contudo em Portugal é exigido que o veiculo esteja registado no país da sua residência. A sua residência habitual é um factor chave para decidir se você deve ou não alterar os documentos do seu veículo. Depois de entrar em Portugal e depois de ter mudado a residência para Portugal, tem 45 dias para solicitar um novo registo e mudar a placa de matrícula.

Antes de registar ou pagar qualquer taxa em Portugal deve perguntar às autoridades competentes Portuguesas sobre as regras aplicáveis ao seu tipo de veiculo e às formalidades que deve efectuar. Para isso deverá contactar a Direcção Geral das Alfândegas e Impostos Especiais de Consumo. É também ai que deverá pagar o seu imposto automóvel e obtém a placa de matrícula.

Se não tiver o Certificado de Conformidade Comunitário (COC) para o seu carro (obrigatório para novos veículos privados desde 1 de Janeiro de 1996) terá de apresentar os seguintes documentos na Direcção Geral de Viação:
- Documento de registo do veículo;
- Documento comprovativo da propriedade do veículo, se não for o mesmo referido acima;
- Documento que prove o pagamento do imposto;
- Documento que comprove as características técnicas do veículo, com os standards nacionais, preenchido pelo fabricante ou seu representante legal.

Um teste de rodagem e uma inspecção técnica podem ser requeridos se se tratar de um veículo usado trazido para Portugal (devido à idade do veículo, novos registos, etc). Também será requerido que altere o seguro do veículo para uma companhia que opere em Portugal. A taxa para este serviço é de 99,76 €.

Se tiver um veículo novo com COC adquirido noutro país da União Europeia, não serão exigidas formalidades ou inspecções relativamente às características técnicas do veículo. Mas necessita de preencher um formulário que pode adquirir na Direcção Geral de Viação e apresentar o COC. Não é devida nenhuma taxa por este serviço.

Well, about the E30, you can trazer o 320i sem matriculares e andares por aqui com a matricula Belga, não terás problema nenhum, porque os policias cá, não se chateiam muito com isso....

E se quiseres mesmo legaliza-lo cá, terás que pagar o IA, que é calculado com a cilindrada e o ano do veiculo...
